Exterior Update

I decided this past weekend that I need to refresh the outside of our home.  Well, I decided it long ago, but this weekend we had beautiful weather and hubby was home to do it (remember, I have a severely sprained ankle!  Worked in my favor, don't you think?).

I have been removing bushes that were dead and from the looks of it, growing some really nice ferns!  They are so big now that I have had to move them to another place around the home!  (More on that later.)  The only change externally to the home we have made since moving in 2 years ago was to paint our front door red (which happens to be my favorite color!).  The door never really looked right.  It never accepted the color and smoothed out.  It was driving me nuts!

I did not know how long it had been since the shutters were painted, and the whole front just seemed drab.

Not to mention, every shutter in our neighborhood seems to be this dark blue color.  Or "slate blue" in the sunlight...  They were terribly faded.

The easiest and quickest way to perform an update?  PAINT!!!    I used Glidden's C67-5 Dark Sage.  I LOVE it!!!  Here it is with one coat.

Two coats....

Three coats...

Covering up the red really nicely for just one coat!

And here they are all finished!

Up close...

Next, I'm going to do a faux painting treatment on the porch floor!  Come back later to see how it is transformed.  This door looks so much better.

How do you like my green? I still need to add to the porch since I remove the ferns, but I will get there.

I am participating in Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch.  Check it out!

I would love to hear your opinion, so leave me a comment.  Keep creating, folks!
